Glad to be holding your interest. We are a far more wide ranging and far more relaxed site than SDF. Feel free to indulge your thoughts, views and general observations.

I am interested to hear about the Chinese community in Germany, we have had a number od Students studying in Germany from time to time, but you are the first "native" so to speak. The UK has a very large Chinese community on account of its Hong Kong connection and you are seldom more than a few hundred yards away from a Chinese Restaurant or Takeaway. What the situation like in Germany?

In Germany there is estimated 80-130k chinese of 81 mio total population, i am not sure if you can speak of a Chinese community. Sometimes is a lot more a village, gossips about old guys above 50 who return to china to "book a second wife" (i hope you understand my cantonese translation :( ), you see always see the same people on marriage party, like in a small village. but the people live quite dispersed from each other , they happen to meet just on marriage parties or birthday parties, sometimes it is just a pretext for playing mahjong

There are a lot students from mainland china here, ithink there are more students than "original" chinese right now. Oh, in Germany we didn`t have any Chinatowns, sadly, but in almost every town there is a chinese resaurant or similiar location, though a lot are not actually chinese kin

A lot are Cantonese, but if they are all Cantonese? (shruggs) :( , most from Guandong, HK, and boatpeople fleeing china and Vietnam. Sometimes you meet some guys from Fuchian, who speeks Hakka or Hokkien, quite funny

try this out and learn Hokkien become a full fledge native speaker
