*Groans* I wish. I live at college in north Virginia, and the cafeteria, once in a long while will serve "Chinese food," and it's usually Americanized stuff dressed up to look Chinese....like chop suey and fortune cookies, for example, which are as American as apple pie.

I respect Chinese food, overall, but I think I have acquired more of a taste for Japanese food, which is mroe seafood oriented, after living for 10 years in Tokyo.

That's not really fair...

We Koreans and the Chinese too have great dishes that is seafood base...

Yeah, can't generalise food. Some Chinese food is very good, some is not. Most of the good Chinese food comes from the richer regions. Who's been to the rural areas and tasted their food? A couple I tried are absolutely horrible, maybe the people there like it but I simply cannot get used to even looking at it. The ingredients and the quality are just... yuck...

Nevertheless, go to a good restaurant in a good city and more likely than not you'll find some world-class food there.
May there be only two Chinas in the world

I've been to Liaoning province and Inner Mongolia, in some rural regions (some locals went around on camels and horses, and some tourists had to come through on SUVs.) B) Most of the food was dry, coarse and bland (breads, soy products etc.) but some of it was fantastically good. I got to visit this tiny 6-table family restaurant where they had amazing fried diced chicken, tofu, sauteed vegetables/mushrooms, and delicate rice noodles that melted in your mouth. It was even better than those in Beijing or Xiamen, and cheaper.

Talkin' about Korean: Korean style BBQing has to be the King
of them all (Yummy!)... Then again, I'd still rate Japanese as the most
healthy and, a cuisine that's characteristically all its own because it's mostly grease
free for one thing (unlesss you go for the Temperas and the pot stickers)
and, it's not red-meat artery clogging based as the following

to be Cantonese style and UK style black pudding. I mean I just can't bear the thought
that there indeed are vampires in our midst.

Definitely. The Japanese diet, heavy on tofu and seaweed, rice, and fish, is probably one of the healthiest in the world.
