Well the form is slow this week compare to the last week so I am starting a general discussion topic on STARCRAFT! Man, is this the best game ever or the best game ever? It's 10 years old and still going strong. It's practically the national sport of South Korea with a global following.

And now, after what is undoubtedly an eternity, the sequal is finally about to arrive. Here are some nice game play for your viewing pleasure:

Now I usually don't buy games, but this one I am getting for sure, first day. We might be looking at a release sometime in the 2nd half of this year. Anyone else as excited as I am?

I'm personally a Starcraft fan myself, but I probably won't be getting Starcraft 2 when it comes out. As for me, I'll probably be waiting until they release a Battle Chest edition like they do with all of their games. That way, I get to save a few dollars, get all three games in the trilogy (I'm sure you're aware that they divided SC2 into three parts), not have to deal with people bitching that the game lacks balance (the developers can balance this game as much as they want, come release day, there will be whiners who think their favourite race is underpowered), and by the time I do get it, I might just have a computer that can actually run SC2 (if it can't already, all I just know is that my computer is getting old).

However, it does mean that I won't be enjoying the Starcraft 2 experience the moment it comes out. But, in terms of marketing, I'm a "late adopter" so that shouldn't bother me too much.

Actually, it's in Beta now, so I don't really see how it could be delayed any later then the end of this year. Although it is Blizzard so one never really knew. A lot of people will be disappointed though, the hype for this game is pretty high up there.

Yep, that is one thing I don't like about it, they split it up in 3! So you are basically paying $150 total. But what can I say, Blizzard have enough of a devoted fanbase to really pull this off. One thing I really enjoyed Blizzard's game is that they have great map editor, with awesome custom maps you can play online (one of the reason why I want to buy it), it greatly increase the amount of time you get out of the game.

Actually... you can live anywhere :P. But a very big part (at least for me) is to play online though, so unfortunately, I need to go legit on this one.

Yep, mine should arrive too around that time. You should totally add me as a friend. I also like how you brought a Lenovo, my last 2 laptops were Lenovo. I loved Thinkpad when they were with IBM, and now I love it MORE with Lenovo. Support Chinese corporation for the win. I am actually going to buy a new one soon (I gave my old Lenovo X200 to my girlfiend), what model are you getting?

Even though my office is full of Lenovo PC desktops, it was the first time for me buying a Lenovo laptop. I bought a Lenovo Ideapad Z465, hehe although my friend said that red track is very handy, I just think the Thinkpad is so ugly and too expensive  and I was told my AMD Ideapad is more than enough for Starcraft, so combining with the much more attractive price I went for the Ideapad :) Just PM me your username by the time it is out :)

We also ALMOST bought a new domestic brand, domestic manufactured car this week. But eventually went for a Toyota, because the BYD F6 material quality was really really disappointing :( Now I understand why you drive pass those accidents in China you see those cars being smashed like Tofu..... sniff sniff......

Only 9 more days until you guys can get your hands on Starcraft 2!

I just checked the requirements on the game, and it turns out that my computer can't even run it, and I doubt I'll be buying a laptop that can run the game, as my cousin bought a laptop to run Dawn of War II, and apparently, shortened the life of his laptop (from what I know anyway, he said it just heats up too fast and the fans are pretty loud).

As for me, I'll be picking up Blazblue: Continuum Shift come July 27th (or whenever I get around to buying it), which is the same day as SC2's released.

This is going to be a fun summer! :)

I just got the game. Im realativly new to starcraft since I never played the orginal but I am a fan of RTS games. I focused more in the C&C realm such as the Red Alert and Generals series. Mind giving some pointers on how starcraft works?

I got the game last Friday and I have been playing Starcraft in general since the original came out. It's really quite good, as for pointers, I am not sure. Just like any RTS, you have to multi-task by managing your unit production, mineral extraction, with fighting battles. Other than that, it just take a lot of practice. Good luck!

Renmin:

pointers? as this is the part 1 only and you can only play Terrans. So what I would suggest is that you pick up SC first and go through it, you will be surprised how balanced the 3 races are, and by knowing the basics of the Zergs and Protoss races too, you will form your strategies much more efficient in SC2. For example, when you simply try to overrun a Protoss defense base, your units most likely will attack the defense structures first, but if you simply focus all forces in taking out the energy pillar, then all these structures will become immediately obsolete <_<

I got your PM, but I don't even have SC2 (I don't even have a computer that can run it).

Since I only have C&C Generals and I don't have SC2 yet, I can only compare and contrast C&C Generals with the first Starcraft game (with the Brood Wars expansion). Starcraft has two different types of resources to gather (as opposed to only money in C&C:G), minerals which is used in everything from troops to buildings; and Vespene Gas, which is needed for research, and to build some of the more advanced units. Gathering Vespene Gas is similar to how the Chinese and the US factions of C&C:G gather money from resource piles, build a building on top (or near, in C&C:G's case) of a point which contains the resource.

And to echo IchiNiSan's suggestion, why not try out the first Starcraft? The Starcraft Battle Chest contains the original game and the Brood Wars expansion, and can be easily acquired at a low price (25 dollars Canadian over here, I don't know the price in your country), and the system requirements shouldn't be a hassle if your computer can run Starcraft 2. My personal preference for learning the ins and outs of Starcraft would be to play a money map (a map that has virtually unlimited resources, Brood Wars has one called Big Game Hunters), research the different technologies available, train all sorts of different units to see their strengths and weaknesses, and of course, crush your enemies!

Actually, you can play all 3 races. It's only the campaign that's focused on Terran. But in multiplayer and skirmishes, anything goes.

<_< good to hear that, I will try that after campaign first though  I did hear that in multiplayer there is a mode that the AI has learned from world's best SC players?
