So, if anyone cares, there will be a EU president.

If Tony Blair becomes EU president, then all is lost. It would be worse than if the BNP ran the UK.

Agreed, it's a pretty unthinkable proposition really. I was watching Question Time on the BBC the other day and one of the panellists suggested that Chris Patten, the former governor of Hong Kong as a more suitable candidate for EU President because he "knew the Chinese better than anybody". I wonder how that would go down in Beijing I wonder?

Nobody seems to be going for it (thank god). I am aware that he generated a lot of interest from a positive reading article about China recently, but I would advise taking a pinch of salt. Blair's trick was always to sound committed and interested on a personal level, when all he is really, is a Barrister presenting a brief.

Even worse however is the new buzz to try and get David "Rat Boy" Milliband elected as the effective EU Foreign Minister. :em3000:
